I previously showed Athena Calderone her Brooklyn home on the blog, and I think the home of her and her family in Amagansett (East Hamptons) is equally well renovated. With an impressive kitchen with Ikea kitchen cabinets and doors in an Ash grey finish, and a richly veined slab of Calacatta Monet marble on the countertops and backsplash. The kitchen and its island function as the perfect backdrop for Athena’s cooking videos.
The Calacatta Monet marble with subtle green-and-plum undertones set the palette for the rest of the room. You can see it back on the cabinetry as well as in the end of the fluted-plaster kitchen island by Kamp Studios. All stainless steel appliances are by a former Blogtour sponsor of mine, JennAir
Textural contrast in Athena’s home
The home is decorated with beautiful vintage pieces and lamps by Rogan Gregory and apparatus on the plaster wall by Kamp Studios which contribute to the textural contrast. In this home we also see Athena’s love of decorating the kitchen equally as the rest of her home. Athena’s goal has always been to create vignettes that feel intimate and encourage intrigue and curiosity. Most striking feature is certainly the rope ceiling Athena created. In the bathroom a partly wall made out of rope gives the family privacy.
